Join The Society of Casualty Safety Engineers (SCSE) for lunch followed by a dynamic joint presentation from Tracey Steffes, Fire Chief, and Alicia Steffes, Police Chief, of Morris, IL. Together, they will explore the growing safety risks posed by lithium-ion batteries across homes, workplaces, and vehicles—and what safety professionals can do to stay ahead of this evolving hazard.

As battery-powered devices become part of nearly every facet of our daily lives, the potential for fire and chemical exposure incidents is rising. This session will draw from real-world emergency responses and highlight the lessons learned, tactical considerations, and response protocols that safety professionals, facility teams, and risk managers need to understand today.
